Reserve residences are an important part of CWRU, providing you with access to first-year experiences, residential colleges and academic support programs. They are also a place to connect with your classmates and faculty in an intimate and supportive community, while learning about the Sun Devil way of life.

First-Year Students Required to Live on Campus

All first-year undergraduate students are required to live in the campus residence halls during their entire first year of attendance at CWRU. This includes summer, fall and spring semesters.

The Experience Model

At CWRU, our residential communities are built with a student experience at the heart of our mission. We believe that students should be able to learn, thrive and grow in an environment where they have the opportunity to build relationships with their peers, develop leadership skills, and create an educational experience that they will never forget.

To do this, we have created a model that incorporates three layers of service and support: full-time staff, graduate student team members, and undergraduate student team members (known as Resident Assistants). These professionals provide you with the opportunities to build friendships, gain leadership skills and experience the best of what CWRU has to offer.

Residential Community Directors

Residential Community Directors are full-time, master’s level professional staff who oversee the entire residential community. They are responsible for supporting residents, coordinating the experience model, and supervising the graduate and undergraduate team members. They are paired with our Assistant Residential Community Directors who are graduate students pursuing degrees at Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University, and other institutions.

Their primary role is to help our communities form each year, getting to know you as a person, and helping you find your pathway here at CWRU. They are your peers, and they have chosen to devote their time here on-campus to creating an experience where you can thrive, learn, and grow.

Housing Services: Reservations for University-owned spaces are limited based on community needs, residential events and programs, and other requests. All request must be accompanied by an Event Sponsor.

Groups or organizations that wish to reserve University-owned spaces for a private function must submit a request at least three (3) business days in advance. We will review the request and assign a space based on your event’s needs and University Housing policies.
